Product Description Cold Steel Machete Two Handed, Some big cutting jobs are often best handled by using both hands and that's where the two handed machete comes into its own. Its long polypropylene handle and tough 1050 carbon steel blade give you the leverage to cut down small trees as well as thick brush and tangled vines. Weighing just under two pounds and measuring 32" in overall length, it's light and compact enough to lash to your pack and is a natural to stash in your vehicle, boat, or airplane. In a self defense emergency, the Two Handed Machete will also double as a highly effective sword. It's light enough to be swung with either one or both hands and delivers enough cutting power to lop off heads and dismember limbs. Specifications: - Weight: 30.9oz. - Overall: 32" - Blade: 11 1/4" - Thick: 5/64" - Handle: Polypropylene - Steel: 1055 Carbon Steel w/ black baked on anti rust matte finish, Mfg No: 97THM, Manufacturer: Cold Steel, Warranty: Cold Steel stands behind their knives 100%. The fixed blade sheath knives have a five-year warranty to the original owner against defects in materials or workmanship. The folding knives are warranted for one year.

Where else can you find this much fun for under $13? February 16, 2005 Ted Rutherford (Salem, OR) 12 out of 12 found this review helpful
I bought one of these for my brother for Christmas. He opened it and I'll tell you this was THE gift.
The blade on this thing is over a foot long and a lot heavier than I would have expected. Straight out of South Africa, a country that knows what a machete is supposed to taste like, this thing was only what I would call marginally sharp.
We immediately took it outside for preliminary tests. We put a Pepsi can that was about one quarter full on a post. My brother gave a one-handed horizontal swing. The top of the can landed about twenty feet away and the bottom half sat there looking like it didn't even move. Not bad, thought we.
Then came the throwing test. We started by throwing it at the wood shed, but the release was bad and it just flew over the top. Bummer. We picked it up and headed over to the junk cars.
We settled on a very tasteful tan 1984 Chevy half-ton pickup. The front driver's side fender was slightly bent, so that's where we laid on the pain, though I thought we should have gone for a windshield. My brother laid it low with a full strength swing. The blade punctured the fender, leaving a gash about four or five inches long. It took little effort to free the blade, and at that time it was revealed that there was little or no damage to the blade and the edge was hardly dulled. There was also no damage to the fiberglass handle.
Bottom line is this thing is the real deal. With a little effort with a file and perhaps a stone you could put an edge on this thing that would make me not even want to hold it, much less get on the business end. I think my brother summed it up best by saying, "you can't even get into the fair and go on a ride and eat a chili dog for thirteen bucks."
An Absolute Beast of a Tool August 23, 2007 L. Morgan (USA) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I own some heavily brushed and treed properties that were in need of clearing. In looking at the design of the Cold Steel two handed machete, it seemed like a superior concept to a traditional machete, so for $13, I pulled the trigger figuring that even if it sucked, I wouldn't be out too much.
HOLY GEEZE AM I EVER IMPRESSED BY THIS THING!
Brush, saplings and limbs don't stand a chance. I wound up clearing a trail in 2/3 the time it would've taken me with an old fashioned machete. Passes that would've required multiple strokes with a conventional machete were taken care of in one fell swoop with the two handed machete. Just one swing and it all comes down...
Another consideration for people who can't or don't use firearms for self defense yet find themselves hiking in lonely places is that this puppy would be an absolutely devastating hand to hand weapon. I would go so far to say that a full impact by this would probably impart a wound substantially more lethal than any gunshot I've ever seen. I certainly wouldn't take one to a gunfight, but if I had to choose between being shot by a pistol or taking a hack from this monster, I'd choose the pistol every time.
I now have one that lives full time in my truck, one that lives full time in my shed and one that lives full time at the cabin.
Great, great tool.
Inexpensive Heavy brush clearance tool January 30, 2009 Patrick S Lasswell 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
For a product this inexpensive, the fit and finish is amazingly good. If you want something to hang on the wall for occasional expeditions to the brush in your country estate, get the expensive toys. For clearing blackberries growing up from your idiot neighbor's back yard over your fence, this is ideal. If you have a big clearance project and a lot of volunteers, buying a bunch of these is cheaper than renting a backhoe.
I wouldn't buy this for combat use, but last night when my dog was barking at some kind of intruder in my back yard, this was ready to hand and scared off the critter.
This is an available tool that will do the job, and it's a great deal for the price.
Great tool October 20, 2009 John F. Guibert 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is a great tool ! I cut down small bushes, large bushes, vines off my chainlink fence. It can be used one or two handed. Its well worth the price.
Great Looking Chopper! April 24, 2010 Reverend Daemon (Portland, OR USA) I haven't had a chance to use it yet but bought it for home defense/camping/survival. It feels really solid and is a good value for the price. I felt blade looked to much like a paddle rather than a blade so I used my dremel and removed 1 inch down on the backside tapered up to the tip so now it has a slight scimitar/butcher knife look.
Its well-balanced and you can adjust where your hands are for either more leverage or more control.
As far as anyone out there that buys things for fun, in the case of a zombie attack, this is the ultimate "tool" for the job.
